Nice is a town in the South-East of France, in the prefecture of the Alpes Maritimes department and the second city in the PACA region behind Marseille. Located at the extreme South-East of France, about thirty kilometres from the Franco-Italian border, it is situated on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, along the Bay of Angels and the mouth of the Paillon.
With 342,522 inhabitants it is the fifth municipality of France. Located between sea and mountains, as the economic and cultural capital of the Côte d’Azur, Nice benefits from important natural assets. It is said that the population of Nice have their feet in the sea and their spirit in the mountains. Nice benefits from incredible flora, much obviously with Mediterranean origins but also exotic with plants from afar.
With the Promenade des Anglais, whose fame rivals that of the Champs-Élysées, Nice is equipped with some important cultural facilities. It has so many museums that the city rivals Paris (to which it comes a close 2nd), a national theatre, an opera house, and hosts the regional library.
